Great funky theme to a long forgotten TV show penned by Richard Denton & Martin Cook who composed various BBC soundtracks during that time (look out for a BBC LP called ‘Hong Kong Beat‘).
Quiller – Quiller
As a bonus here’s the first ten or so minutes of the first episode of ‘Quiller’.

From his ‘Children of God‘ CD. Loving Craig Rip’s beat on this.

Sadly the soundtrack to the 1970 film ‘Fragment Of Fear’ has never been released although Johnny Harris did see fit to make new recordings of a couple of tracks including the movies theme on his excellent ‘Movements’ LP. Great tracks they are too with the moody title theme and the frenetic ‘Stepping Stones’ complete with Harold McNair on flute. It’s well worth picking up the album which is easy to find on whatever format you require.
Johnny Harris – Fragment Of Fear
Johnny Harris – Stepping Stones
As an added bonus here’s the first nine minutes of the aforemention movie including the original version of the theme music.
First aired on the superb Prince Paul / Peanut Butter Wolf “Be Our Valentine” podcast. Now there’s a full on Eighties kitsch Alyssa Milano stalking video.
You’re So Precious from Folerio on Vimeo.
Not sure if Peanut Butter Wolf has a future planned for Folerio but as tongue-in-cheek outsider art goes this is pretty great.

One of my favourite finds from last year albeit in slightly battered condition. Sublime soul music from Nigeria.
Lijadu Sisters – Come On Home
Lijadu Sisters – Orere-Elejigbo
I can’t get enough of this track right now.

I picked this up last weekend and have been playing it all this week. Great uptempo soul. Cheap and easy to find too.
Little Milton – Grits Ain’t Groceries

It’s a full nineteen and a half years since the Beastie Boys dropped their classic ‘Paul’s Boutique’ and they don’t seem to be interested in waiting for the real anniversary before they get out the remastered version in a various forms. To celebrate here are the leaked ‘Paul’s Boutique’ demos including alternate versions of ‘Car Thief’ and the Mike D only ‘Johnny Ryall’.
